Writing covered calls is a very common options trading strategy, yet it's very underutilized. And success with trading options is possible, but often elusive.

Practical Application Exercise...
The 5 Year Retirement Plan: did you know that $5,000 compounded at 5% a month will be $93,395.71 in 5 years?
And if you take that same $93,395.71 and earn the same 5% a month you can make roughly $4,669 a month (93,395.71 * .05). Not bad for a short 5 year investment of time.
***Exercise: pretend you can earn 3-5% a month with options. Figure out how much money you will need to trade with to reach your monthly income goals.
For example: You want to make $2,000 a month. Take $2,000 and divide it by .03 and you will need to trade with $66,000. Divide $2,000 by .05 and you will need to trade with $40,000.
Regardless of the dollar amounts you will find they are small enough to be able to achieve within your lifetime and it won't take working for a company for 40 years to do it.

Thank you and your wife for working out a way that you can keep teaching others, especially now in this miserable economy. Those of us who have found you are lucky. Part of my plan of achieving financial security has always been share some of what I have and know to help others in some way. We each have our journey and should contribute our grains of sand to Life's beach, so to speak.
I'm in a very painful financial place at this point in my life, as you know, and also grew up without much. These circumstances are secret weapons, though: they make everything count-- time, resources and the help you get from others.
